In the book "The Dance of the Dissident Daughter" Kidd speaks about trying to enter the deep parts of herself comparing the feeling to a child at the edge of the sea. This saying really resonates with me because I am very familiar with the marriage of fear and excitement together one feels when exploring new areas of themselves. To be in the state of pure joy but constantly feel the need to pull backwards out of harm's way.
